THE CURIOSITY OF THE MONTH: HORSE DIPLOMACY

At the beginning of January President Francesce Emmanuel Macron , during a state visit to China, gave the Chinese President, Xi Jinping , an eight-year-old thoroughbred horse, called Vesuvio, horse that the president had admired in Paris, during his last visit during an institutional parade.

Behind this important gift there is a subtle play of words, in fact the transliteration in Chinese characters of Macron (Makelong) literally means “ the horse tames the dragon “.

According to foreign policy, this gesture could have different facets, undoubtedly it is an unprecedented diplomatic gift, a symbol of French excellence, as pointed out by its staff.

Who knows what roads will open this wonderful thoroughbred horse in world diplomacy.
